MNOK 217 Contract for Communications Equipment

KONGSBERG signed a contract today with the Armed Forces' Logistics Organisation for the delivery of radio equipment for tactical communication.

The contract extends the lifetime of previously delivered communications equipment for use in vehicles and in the soldier-level communication environment, enabling the Armed Forces to meet the operative needs of tomorrow. The upgrade will result in a robust, reliable radio communication solution based on IP, enhancing the operative forces' interoperability at the national and international levels alike.

With a scope of MNOK 217, the contract will be fulfilled over a five-year period.

Executive Vice President Stig-Are Mogstad, Division for Defence Communications at KDS, states that this contract with the Armed Forces will help to further develop KDS as Norway's premier development community for tactical military communications, and help KDS to sustain the company's position as one of the world's leading suppliers in this field. The contract also implies significant orders for Norwegian subcontractors, thus helping to secure many jobs in the Norwegian counties of Akershus, Buskerud and Aust-Agder.

Executive Vice President Harald Ånnestad of KDS comments that he is very pleased about the signing of this contract to upgrade the world's leading Norwegian-developed communications equipment. The fact that it refers to products developed through good, long-term cooperation between the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, the Norwegian Armed Forces and KONGSBERG makes this especially gratifying.
