Dynamic positioning systems

Kongsberg Maritime subsidiary Kongsberg Simrad has signed contracts worth MNOK 27 with two Singapore shipyards. The contracts are for the delivery of dynamic positioning systems for six offshore supply ships for the US shipping company Tidewater Marine of New Orleans. The contracts also include options on three more ships.

The contracts were signed with the two Singapore shipyards, Singapore Technologies Marine Ltd. and Yantai Raffles Shipyard Pte Ltd. All six systems are scheduled for delivery in 2001/2002, following in the wake of earlier deliveries to two Tidewater vessels in 2000.

Tidewater Marine owns and operates the world's largest fleet of supply and anchor handling towing supply vessels, and serves virtually the entire international offshore industry.

"We are very pleased about being chosen to be a supplier for one of the trendsetters in this market. This corroborates our role as world leader in dynamic positioning systems, and confirms the prudence of our efforts in both Singapore and Houston", states Sales and Marketing Director Tor Erik Sørensen of Kongsberg Simrad.

Kongsberg Maritime is among the world's leading companies in marine information technology. Kongsberg Maritime had a turnover of MNOK 2,983 in 2000 and has approximately 2,300 employees in more than 20 countries.
